This book is a keeper! Jack as illustrated, is a character children will immediately love just by looking at him. Then, when his story is read in catchy rhyme, he will come alive to them, even more. Add Jack’s family into the mix, and you have a rollicking tale that includes everybody. This Jack, like Jack B. Nimble, is timeless. And such fun!

Read this with my 4 year old every night.

Cute story

Very simple, didn't think price was worth the story

We love this adorable rhyming take on the classic nursery rhyme, Jack Be Nimble. A story about a ninja on a secret mission who tries to avoid being seen by hiding, diving and tiptoeing. But then whoops, he trips on a wire and gets stuck. Luckily the bandit crew comes and he is able to escape. When he finally reaches the Ninja Master with the treasure he sees the bandit crew was his family in disguise! The illustrations convey the secrecy of a ninja just right. The shadows used throughout the book make you feel as if you’re sneaking through the mission along with Jack. This is one that you will be singing instead of reading! My 4.5 year old felt connected to this book immediately and said, “Mommy, I’m the ninja and there’s the rest of our family (then he named Daddy, Mommy, little brother and baby brother).” That’s when I knew we would be reading on repeat!

This is a picture book based on the classic Jack be Nimble nursery rhyme. In this book, Jack is a brave ninja. My name is Jack and I want to be a ninja too!The character from this story, Jack dives into the garden pool and breaks into a bandit cave. He’s on a mission to find a stolen treasure chest. He meets a bandit crew and narrowly escapes. It turns out the bandits are not who they seem. It was a little confusing to me.I liked the fact that the book is based on Jack and he’s a cool ninja. I didn’t really understand the ending though. The pictures were great, and the rhymes made sense. I liked it and would recommend it for kids ages 4-6. I give it four stars.Review by Jack H., age 6, New Mexico Mensa

I saw Tim McCanna at a conference, and he BROUGHT DOWN THE HOUSE! His humor and engaging style transfer to this adorable book. I read it to my preschool class, and now when we walk quietly through the halls, we use our "sneaky Jack B. Ninja" feet. They can't get enough of it. The rhyme is delightful to read aloud, and the illustrations pop. Teachers: If you have the opportunity to get McCanna to your school, don't miss him! (He even plays the ukulele.)

Raise your hand if you like updated versions of old nursery rhymes! Then you are going to love JACK B. NINJA, a clever new take on the classic, Jack Be Nimble. Filled with flowing rhymes, Stephen Savage’s engaging action-packed illustrations, and ninjas children are not going to want to miss the charming read aloud!
