About the Author

ALDHA is an organization of past, present and future hikers of the Appalachian Trail. Great guide for section-hiking or thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. I have used this guide (previous years ), in hiking previous sections of the Appalachian Trail, since the year 2000. I have happily hiked from Springer Mt., Georgia, to northern New Hampshire with previous year Thru-Hikers' Companions. Great Elevation profile maps! Excellent info., on where to re-supply, what services are offered in bigger re-supply towns...and very nice to have, should your phone's battery be dead...Even if you don't bring it on the trail, the 2019 APPALACHIAN TRAIL - Thru-Hikers' Companion, makes a great resource, while planning your hike!!Well-made, full of info., from many sources. Great "companion"...buy it, you WILL use it! It will help you, to - "Hike your own hike!"

I thoroughly enjoy this book. It is excellent for detailed planning. I highly recommend this book over others.OF NOTE- Amazon will suggest you purchase the AT Data Book, too. There is no need to buy the data book. All the information in the data book is in the Companion, too.

What's not to like about this book? It gives great info and overview of the terrain.

Wonderful guide

Ordered this to get a leg up on my thru-hike planning for 2022 and was not disappointed. Great info on milage, elevation, and local resources along the trail. Will be looking out for newer versions closer to my start date!

I had this book as a teenager and found it very effective for helping me lose weight by making small healthy, lifestyle changes. I sold it several years ago, but ended up buying a copy of it again very recently because it's still very helpful and relevant. I personally never did the walking program prior, but I think this book has a very reasonable approach to weight loss for folks who are intimidated by the gym, but want to start making healthier choices for themselves. You don't need to be a fitness model to be healthy, you can make small changes to improve your health, life and weight.

If you do it... it will work. I lost 15 lbs the first time I used this book but I was die hard dedicated to the diet and training daily. Then gained back a couple years later and this time I was not so dedicated to the daily regiment. If your dedicated, this is the book for you. I lost 2.5 lb every week!

OK people I had this book for a number of years and decided to give it another chance since a few years back I didn't stick to it! (I had a different mindset then and I wasn't practicing my value of health) However, for my new youtube fitness channel, I choose the routine in this book for my second series on "How to get Started on a new Fitness Plan" on http://youtu.be/XuUYzQ1rD88 simply because I had the book. This time I kept an open mind and pushed through! it was quiet simple because I can do the routine just about anywhere. I ensured that I got the exercises in at home if I was going to visit a friend/place that didn't have weights, so not to miss my work out. I have to admit the first 2 days, I thought to myself, "just doing 4 sets of 12 reps of 2 exercises is not going to do anything for me." Boy was I wrong! by day 3 I started to feel the WORKOUT AND VERY MUCH LOOKED forward to doing it!!!! The first week I lost 1lb but more importantly 1/4" around my waist. I'm on day 12 week 2, I didn't start on a Sunday and I don't follow the diet as I follow a diet that is producing results I'm happy with! love the quotes, wake up talk and health tips!!! I highly recommend!

I have previously purchased other books by this author. I like the way he gives background and the reasons why you eat or exercise a certain way. Anyone wishing to get in better shape and or lose weight, this is a great book. Buy the Belly Fat Cure book for some really great recipes and a more detail explanation about sugar and how it creates belly fat. This is a good book as the author does not ask you to do hours of exercise. Just 8 minutes in the morning. It takes me a little longer but I am slowly cutting down my time.

I bought the book because I liked the premise, and I still generally agree with his plan...- do 4 sets of 2 different exercises 6 days a week, for 4 weeks (different exercises for all those days), then begin the exercises again;- keep a journal to stay motivated;- do a food plan where you check off what you eat, but you are not told you CANNOT eat anything - some things are just suggested as being much better; and- do power walking as your aerobic exercise of choice.Overall, this plan is not bad - but I did have some problems with it.- One seems minor; however, if I am going to write in this book, then I like the way Bob Greene did his book with the rings, so it could lie flat, better. That is also more convenient for doing the exercises.- Next, while I did like the food plan, the biggest problem I had with it was the restriction on the amount of fruit I could eat (one serving per day - always!) - but the veggies were much more unlimited (depending on weight, up to 6 servings per day).Overall, it's not a bad plan. However, be aware that while the exercises only take 8 minutes in the morning, when you add the journaling and power walking, you are doing more. For the person just getting started in trying to lose weight, it's not a bad plan; however, if you are only half-hearted in getting started with this plan, it is just as easy as any other plan to skip and cheat on.

This book is great. It gives you a lot of information about muscle use, etc. Even if you don't get a model's body, each day makes you work different muscle groups. There is also a section on weight loss with a practical and healthy approach.

I am in my 22nd week of Jorge's weight training and excercise plan and am many pounds lighter and leaner than I have ever been at my current weight. Using the excercise plan and a modified eating plan, I tend to go higher protien and lower carb, I have taken 40 pounds off my frame and have less than 20 to go to meet my weight loss goal.There isn't any magic to it, that is true, it is a combination of lowered intake and increased energy output, but I am seeing real results for the first time of years of failed dieting and excercise. I have two other friends who are now in the program and am buying a copy for another friend as a gift.

This is a must read if you grew up in alcoholic family or married to an alcoholic or addict, regardless how old you. I started my journey in recovery 25 years ago by going to a therapist and no one has yet to bring up this topic. I have been in AA, NA, and Al-Anon and no one wants to talk about ACoA issues.Although I found “Recovery: A Guide for Adult Children of Alcoholics” by Herbert L. Gravitz helpful and gave me awareness, this book is great because it is well organized and offers me structure to my recovery. I am 61 and still seeking answers regarding my unhappiness. I am tired of taking the blame and having no idea what trips me up. I find the 12 step programs helpful, but all of them want me to take the blame for all my problems. I will still attend meetings for the fellowship, but I won’t expect them to cover topics in this book.I am glad this book is in print and am saddened that therapists have not written more books like this. I guess it may be hitting too close to home. One thing that books tell me is not to expect other family members to join me. Trying to get my 5 siblings to come out of denial is a complete waste of my time.

This is a great book to add to your collection of you have parents who are addicts. The journaling system suggested in the last few chapters is an excellent supplement or even starter for ACA group work and the 12 Steps. It details very nicely the basic issues of growing up with family dysfunction and very detailed and easy to follow instructions for the suggested self guided recovery as a beginning or supplement to the steps, meetings, and therapy.

I spent years explaining "The Rules" of my family to others, girlfriends, wives, my cousin's spouses... and here it was, all along, written down in a far more coherant way than anything that I ever did. Not all of us drink, but all four of my Grandparents were alcoholics, and it came through as strong as if each and every one of us were. Stop fighting the truth. Buy the book, if you don't think it applies to your situation after reading it then I am absolutely certain that you personally know at least 3 people who need to read it. It's not the newest book on the subject, but it's the best to get started with.

I learned a ton from this little book and wish everyone with an addiction or who has a friend/family member with an addiction would read it.

I read this years ago to understand the dysfunctions that accompany alcoholism. This book is quick and easy to read and very accuratelyoutlines the types of dysfunction that thrive in alcoholic families, and how the dysfunction is passed from generation to generation.

I liked this book and it arrived just in time. I'm not very familiar with Dental terms in English (I know them but in Spanish) so I wanted a book that would help me learn and understand those terms in Dental Anatomy, and I found this book very helpful. Even though I already took a Dental Anatomy class, it helped reinforce and remember certain parts of the subject. I thank bookworld for treating me well as a costumer and caring about what I think.

I just love this book. It is very easy to understand and it has review questions on just about every page. It also has tests to take with each section. The answers are in the back to check your work. I wish I would've gotten this book before I started dh school, it would've helped out a lot:)

This Book Is Great And Very Helpful! I Have Been Using It For Dental School And It Has A Lot Of Quiz Questions In It That Are Great.

I was kind of disappointed with this book because before I purchase the book, the seller didn't mention that it was taped and the edges were all messed up. I mean it has all its information, but just to warn you that if you want your book to be free from these things order from somewhere else!

This book is an excellent resource for anyone wishing an introduction to the topic of dental anatomy. I think any first year dental student would find this especially helpful. The text is divided up into modules, and then into frames, with the answers to questions within the frames located in the margin. The book is very good about reinforcing terms that may not be familiar to the beginning student of dentistry or to the layman. However, I do not recommend this book for someone who has had a course in dental anatomy. I initially bought the book as a study aid for part one of the dental national boards. Having had dental anatomy coursework, as well as other courses which used the same information as a foundation, I found the reinforcement of terms I already knew to be rather tedious. I think that if I had found it before starting dental school though, it would have been much more valuable to me.

I used this book for boards and dental school and it was a life saver. It gets you going on all the basics of dental anatomy. I wish this book had more information on occlusion. Occlusion was a very critical component for boards and some of the trickiest questions.
