My 7 yr. old granddaughter, a voracious reader and writer, was thrilled to receive her own dictionary. The thesaurus is very helpful expanding her writing skills. This dictionary will last her a lifetime. I have the same one. I would like to see this available in large type.

I had this same dictionary but I wore it out. I work crossword puzzles every day to keep my mind busy. I don't always know the answers so have to look up in the dictionary. I find it useful when I can't remember a couple of letters in a word. As I get older.....actually I am old...lol....I think....were there two ss's in that word or one so I go look it up in my handy dandy dictionary.

I was so tired of my kids asking me to look up a word on the computer that I finally ordered a dictionary. My only regret is not doing it sooner. In this world where all knowledge is available instantly and right at our finger tips (and coming from who knows where), it's nice to actually sit down and turn real pages to find answers. The thesaurus at the bottom of the pages is a handy resource. I've loved watching my kids take it to their rooms while reading a book so they can look up words they don't know. The computer now gets much needed rest while we turn to the dictionary more and more.

This book is awesome. I love the Thesaurus at the bottom of the page! Wonderful idea. I definitely recommend this. It arrived quickly and properly packaged.

Bought for the local school. The graduates each get a copy as a gift during their last year.

Great combination of both dictionary and thesaurus. Both here are great. I use this one more than any other thesaurus or dictionary. Why should I when I have both in the same book.

Don’t like the font on the book compared to the size of the book. Wish had a large font . Will be returning it to get another book.

My son, of 44 years old has ADHD. His letters to me over the last 25 years have been at 3rd grade level. Even with special ed and etc...his spelling and writting, not to mention understanding similiatries between words, was very poor. He requested a dictionary so, I sent him one. He's in prison and did not have one to use, nor are they allowed to borrow. Very strict rules. Since he got the dictionary, not only has his spelling improved, his writting,structuring the sentences improved, but he now has learned words from the Thesaurus easily, that help him get his point across. Just having to look for the spelling, seeing other words that he has not used before has been exceptional for him. I'm sooo thankful I got this book. He's taking classes for welding and also language and this has deffinately made a difference for him and increased his word power. Thanks again Amazon for making it so easy to get it to him.

This books covers the essentials of DB2 and is very well written. It enabled me to get up to speed with DB2 in a week, when I had a project that included DB2. Being a long term Oracle DBA, I had no difficulty finding what I needed in the book. I plan on re-reading it as soon as get my desktop in working Order.The only information that the book lacks is the information about the processes and the software architecture on Linux and Unix. That was the ground to give the book only 4 stars instead of 5.The book looks like it's written for an average Unix/Linux/Windows programmer, which I am not.The book enabled me to start investigating on my own and I am grateful to the author for the job well done.

Good starting point for getting up and running with DB2. Not an intensive SQL coding tome but it helps you learn how to get around using the tools that are available for developing and testing programs

I bought this second product from the bookstore, when I received it, it was as good as new.Will definitely buy from em again.Great stuff!

This is an amazing book for new travel agents! Lori covers all the basics and breaks it down in an understandable way for anyone to understand. The section on setting up your office and organizing files is probably one of my favorite sections, not to mention the included forms!

This book is so well written and filled with so much information for helping your clients select the perfect Cruise.

Easy to read and understand. I just started my homebased travel business a year ago and was able to take specific information and apply it. The documents and appendix sections were especially helpful. I created almost my entire group packets from these. I've purchased several other books, but this one is the only one that is both cruise specific and up to date. If you are new to selling cruises, get this book!

This book has some good information for the travel agent just starting out, and those who have been in business for some years.

This is an interesting book for those interested in adding a remembrance of the role of the woman to their Pesach seder. However, it very much revels the "anti-men" sentiment of many feminists in that complaints are made about the "all male" celebration of the seder (which was never my experience) while admitions are made that some of the seders organized by women are "all women" and even little boys are not permitted to attend -- reference "Sanctified by Ritual" by Phyllis Chesler (pages 213 to 220) and "Pluralism in Feminist Settings" by Martha Achelsberg (pages 229 to 234). How can women complain about "male only" anything when they exclude men because "some women are uncomfortable praying with men"? Is it not possible that some men are uncomfortable praying with women? Is it possible that some women think that men do not suffer from discomfort in the presence of women? As a woman, I believe that having some degree of separateness between the genders is a good thing -- but it must be a two-way street. Women must allow men their separate times as well as setting aside some rituals for themselves. Women are different from men. Women do not experience life in the same way as men. Women have a different approach to the religious experience and that difference should be recognized -- and celebrated. Perhaps the mechitzah is not such a bad thing -- and perhaps the Orthodox should recognize 10 women as consisting as a minyan separate from a male minyan of 10 men without recognizing a mixed minyan.

I picked it up and got pulled right in. Capacity is the second book in the series. Good writing and cool ideas. Everything I've like best. Q: How did Kvothe's story come to you? Did you always plan on a trilogy? A: This story started with Kvothe's character. I knew it was going to be about him from the very beginning. In some ways it's the simplest story possible: it's the story of a man's life. It's the myth of the Hero seen from backstage. It's about the exploration and revelation of a world, but it's also about Kvothe's desire to uncover the truth hidden underneath the stories in his world. The story is a lot of things, I guess. As you can tell, I'm not very good at describing it. I always tell people, "If I could sum it up in 50 words, I wouldn't have needed to write a whole novel about it." I didn't plan it as a trilogy though. I just wrote it and it got to be so long that it had to be broken up into pieces. There were three natural breaking points in the story.... Hence the Trilogy. Q: What is next for our hero? A: Hmm..... I don't really believe in spoilers. But I think it's safe to say that Kvothe grows up a little in the second book. He learns more about magic. He learns how to fight, gets tangled up in some court politics, and starts to figure unravel some of the mysteries of romance and relationships, which is really just magic of a different kind, in a way. I am a voracious reader and I like this genre of books (read Robin Hobb) - but not particularly this one. I don’t understand all the rave reviews unless they are given because of Martin’s one liner. This story plods along; it is extremely boring at times; and the protagonist is self-absorbed to say the least. I am still not finished with it and have been picking it up off and on for weeks. Normally I would finish a book in two days. I just read the reviews of book two and will pass on it altogether. It just sounds like more of the same with nothing wrapped up. The most interesting sub-plot in this book is the Chandrian but 75% in we know nothing more about them other than the first time they are mentioned. Seriously? There simply isn’t anything in this book to hook me into buying the next one - esp. after reading the reviews. It’s just more wash, rinse, repeat. And it took the author 4 years to write book two since book one? Why consider it if it is more of the same. And it has been 7 years since book two and no mention of book three. I guess my standards are different but I think this book is way overblown in the reviews and there is no assurance there will even be an ending. Don’t waste your time. P.S. I just checked author’s website and he is busy sailing, writing comic books, and admits to over 300 incomplete blogs. No mention of book three so there is no reason to believe there will ever be one. He appears to have shifted to comic books. Again, why bother to start a series when there will never be any closure? Too many good series to waste time on this one.

****AUDIBLE NARRATION REVIEWI do not usually tend to read books such as "The Name Of The Wind". I am more of a historical romance kinda gal. My husband happened to be browsing ebooks and the last thing I knew, this gem was popping up as "based on your shopping history" type thing. I started reading the reviews and debated... for a couple days. I LOVE to read but don't rarely get the chance with young children these days. I decided I was going to buy the book. I then splurged for the audible narration as well!!!That said, many reviews debate over which narrator they preferred. The version I got was with Nick Podehl. I thought he did a wonderful job with this story. He uses different voices for different characters and is consistent. I enjoyed listening to him narrate Rothfuss' masterpiece.The story itself took me a little bit to get into... about the first 6-7 chapters. I actually ended up re-reading them to make sure I was following along. This book contains MANY details and characters to follow (worth paying attention to). After I was able to grasp the beginning the rest of the story unfolded beautifully! I already had the second purchased and downloaded (audible narration included) before I was finished.This book is LONG! I not ONCE lost interest. At places I (almost) teared up, I got angry and I actually laughed out loud... many times! I am truly pleased with this purchase and look forward to reading more from Patrick! Well done and thank you for the greatest story I've read in years! BRAVO P. Rothfuss!

This is one of the worst books I have ever read.I went into it optimistic: I like fantasy, I’m intrigued by magic systems in books, and I had heard good things. I especially heard good things about Rothfuss’s prose.The story lacks narrative tension; the breaking up of chapters is inconsistent and distracting; the main character is poorly developed; the prose is obtuse. I truly believe that there is almost nothing of redeeming value in this book.The story follows Kvothe, a fabulously talented musician, accomplished actor, master magician, and astute fighter. He is also handsome, has a great baritone, and knows how to survive in the woods. He is romantic, fierce, brilliant, and wise. Kvothe is not bad at anything. Kvothe excels at whatever he does. And it is not just that he does well --- he does well quickly, much to amazement of others, and he does well with little effort. There is no real struggle for just about anything. Even tragedy is essentially just a stepping stone to Kvothe's brilliance. When he falls in love, it is not just with a beautiful woman. It is with the most beautiful, most brilliant woman. He is clever to the extreme, and all others can recognize this. As a reader, you start wondering what the point is -- why should I care about this character? Why him? What flaws make him relatable? What does he accomplish, if everything is so easy?Rothfuss is described as a poet by some reviewers. Maybe this is true, but it is very bad poetry. Adding modifiers doesn't make a sentence beautiful, and not every scene deserves an extended description.Rothfuss relies on a number of odd plot devices. I counted at least four instances of a character falling, hitting his head, blacking out, and waking up a few hours later to then be filled in about what happened. The world of The Name of the Wind is populated by people with chronic head trauma.
